When a family fight goes public, everyone wants to know what the parents think. Now Christopher de Leon has finally answered, and his message is simple: stay out of the heat, stay close to the kids.

Ian is the only biological son of Nora Aunor and Christopher. Lotlot, Matet, Kenneth and Kiko are their adopted children. According to PEP.ph, the tension is over the properties and legacy left by the late Superstar and National Artist. Ian said he is the legal heir and set up a One Person Corporation covering Nora Aunor Enterprise and Nora Aunor Foundation, which he described as a tribute to his mother's memory. Lotlot has said she was not consulted about the corporation. The siblings have traded statements on social media since.

What did Christopher de Leon say?
This is the first time the veteran actor has talked about it publicly. He said he stayed quiet because he did not want to interfere in something that involves the mother's estate. What he did was talk to Lotlot and Ian one at a time:
Nakausap ko na silang dalawa, hiwalay.
He explained that he is not the "showbiz na tatay" type who airs family matters, and that he would rather say things straight to his children in private. He also said he does not need to pick a side because both are adults.
Does he think they will make peace?
Yes. Christopher said:
Siguro one day, magkakaayos yan. Definitely, one day, magkakaayos yan.
He believes stepping into the "heat" now would only make things worse, since words can get misread and turned into gossip. He also shared that he was surprised by how quickly things changed after Nora passed away, because the siblings used to be very close.
Is he still in touch with his kids?
He says so. In his words, "Hindi ako sumuko. Hanggang ngayon kausap ko sila," which means he never gave up and is still talking to them. He also said he sends messages of love to his children, and that he is taking steps to help ease things with one of them.
On the topic of his adopted children using his surname, Christopher said it has never been an issue for him, and that "When they call me dad, ang sarap pakinggan."
