In a videotaped message sent to Viva Films, Mario greeted Filipino fans and gave the local version his full support:
Mabuhay Philippines from Mario Maurer! I want to congratulate Wilbert Ross and the whole cast of the Philippine version of Pee Mak.
He told the cast he knows they will do great, invited everyone to watch it in Philippine cinemas on October 14, and ended with a sweet "See you, mahal ko kayo!"
How did Wilbert Ross react?
PEP's Cabinet Files reached Wilbert on the night of September 22. His first reaction: "Nakakataba po ng puso." (It warms my heart.)
He also said he'd love to meet Mario in person someday:
Kung may chance po, gusto ko siyang ma-meet dahil high school student pa lang ako, napanood ko na ang movie niya na Crazy Little Thing Called Love at ang Pee Mak.
So this is a fanboy moment too. He watched Mario's movies as a teen, and now he's playing one of his most famous roles.
