Some interviews hit differently. Moira dela Torre's chat with PEP.ph is one of them, because she talked about something a lot of us go through and rarely admit: needing help to work through the hurt.
What did Moira say about her relationship with Jason now?
Moira said her relationship with Jason Marvin Hernandez is now civil and that she has forgiven him for the pain. "Opo. Opo.," she told PEP.ph. She also said they had closure after their split.
Why did she seek professional help?
Moira said that after the split she kept herself busy. She just kept working and moving, and never really sat down to rest. Her words:
Parang takbo lang ako nang takbo for survival. I was always used to surviving on my own. I've always been an independent person.
She also said her experience of growing up in a broken family could have added to the pain. Then she added something thoughtful: knowing your background can explain your pain for only so long, but it is not an excuse.
When she chose to see a professional, she said, it was because she noticed a pattern she did not like:
I knew that there was a pattern and I didn't like the pattern.
What did therapy teach her?
Moira used a very relatable example. If you keep making the wrong turn and wonder why, she said, it may be because you did not open Waze. She meant that if you want something different in your life, you have to do something differently.
Among the things she learned in therapy:
- It is valid that her trust was broken and that she became afraid to trust.
- She is used to doing things alone, but she does not need to be scared anymore.
- Fear is often the loudest voice in the room, and therapy helps you realign.
She said she is only now learning how to enjoy life and to be brave. PEP.ph noted that she got emotional at the press conference, and Moira said that in rooms like that, you realize "marami pa palang nagmamahal sa yo."
What is Where It All Started?
It is Moira's first headline concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, happening on October 4, 2026. Her guests will be Ogie Alcasid, Adie, Johnoy Danao, December Avenue, and a few surprise guests. PEP.ph will also release a two-part Real Talk interview with her on its YouTube channel next week.
Why her story matters
A lot of us grew up thinking therapy is only for people who are "krung-krung." Moira herself noted that this idea is still around. Hearing a well-loved singer talk about it so openly might help someone finally book that first session, or at least stop feeling ashamed about it.
